Coated glass for thermal insulation and cold protection: For rooms facing east or exposed to intense western sunlight, consider using solar-absorbing coated glass on the exterior side, while opting for standard clear white glass on the interior side. Since these solar-absorbing glasses efficiently capture infrared light, they reduce the amount of heat entering the room—helping to ease the load on air conditioning systems during summer. In winter, the same glasses absorb infrared radiation, raising their own temperature and effectively shielding the space from external cold. Coated glass comes in a variety of tinted options, allowing you to freely choose based on your home’s decor preferences.

Frosted glass allows light to pass through while blocking visibility: Also known as milky glass, frosted glass is created by treating the surface of ordinary flat glass—whether through mechanical sandblasting, manual grinding, or methods like etching with hydrofluoric acid—to produce a uniformly matte finish. This rough surface causes light to scatter diffusely, giving the glass its characteristic ability to transmit light without allowing clear views, while simultaneously softening the indoor illumination. Apart from its transparency, frosted glass matches standard window glass in terms of dimensions and quality. It’s commonly used for partitions in spaces such as bathrooms, shower rooms, toilets, offices, and hallways—and can even serve as the surface material for blackboards.

Double-glazed glass is the most energy-efficient option: Its superior soundproofing and thermal insulation properties significantly outperform single-pane glass, helping air-conditioned buildings drastically reduce electricity consumption. In summer, it effectively blocks heat from entering, while in winter, it prevents indoor warmth from escaping—cutting heat loss by up to 40% and providing excellent insulation. Additionally, double-glazed glass boasts stronger compressive strength compared to single-pane glass, making it an ideal choice for windows and doors in high-rise buildings.

Tempered glass is the safest option: If your home balcony windows are all made with tempered glass, safety levels will significantly improve. This is because tempered glass has impact resistance 3 to 6 times greater than regular glass, and its bending strength is more than 3 times higher—making it exceptionally secure.

In short, whether it's balcony windows or interior doors and windows, you should always consider their soundproofing, insulation, and safety features when choosing the glass.
