On July 19, a 4-year-old girl in Changsha, Hunan, tragically fell to her death from the 14th floor; on the same day, a 3-and-a-half-year-old girl in Dongba, Beijing, also lost her life after falling from the 15th floor... A review of recent incidents reveals that within just seven days, at least four child-falling tragedies have occurred across the country.
A four-year-old girl in Changsha tragically died after accidentally falling from a window.

According to local media reports, at 4 p.m. on July 19, a homeowner took her 4-year-old daughter, Jiajia (pseudonym), to a friend’s apartment on the 14th floor of a residential complex in Meixi Lake, Changsha, to view the property. The friend’s home was undergoing renovation, and at the time, one of the windows was being converted into a floor-to-ceiling window—though the process wasn’t yet complete, as no glass had been installed. While the child’s parents were standing by the window admiring the view, curious Jiajia ran over to join them. Unfortunately, with no glass barrier in place, Jiajia accidentally fell out of the window.

At the time, several adults were around Jiajia, but none of them noticed the danger—or, even worse, didn’t bother to warn her. After the incident, 120 emergency responders arrived at the scene, yet Jiajia’s injuries were too severe, and she sadly passed away. This tragic accident has plunged the family into deep sorrow. Following the event, people hastily blocked the lower window with a wooden board—but by then, the tragedy was already irreversible.
A three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Beijing tragically fell to her death from the 15th floor.
On the same day, a 3-and-a-half-year-old girl tragically fell to her death from the 15th floor of a residential complex in Dongba Township, Chaoyang District, Beijing. Several residents reported that the child usually lived with her parents and grandmother, and at the time of the incident, her parents were not home—she was being cared for by her grandmother. Witnesses said the child may have been asleep just before the accident occurred. "The elderly woman briefly stepped out to buy groceries, and in that short moment, she never imagined the child would unexpectedly fall from upstairs when she returned."

The reporter later visited the girl’s home, where a young man claiming to be the child’s father greeted them. His eyes were red-rimmed and his expression was deeply distraught. He explained that the child, just three and a half years old, had suddenly passed away, leaving the family in a state of overwhelming grief. He politely declined an interview, noting that his family was currently struggling to cope with their emotions.
On the afternoon of July 17, a 4-year-old boy in Guangzhou's Huangpu District tragically fell to his death from his 23rd-floor home. At the time of the incident, the child was reportedly left alone at home. A resident shared that someone had previously spotted the child attempting to climb out onto the windowsill to play and immediately shouted loudly to stop him. Hearing the warning, the child climbed back inside. However, when he tried climbing out again later, no one noticed—leading to this heartbreaking tragedy.
On the evening of July 15, a young girl in Cenxi City, Guangzhou, accidentally fell from the third-floor windowsill and tragically died. According to sources familiar with the situation, the child was about 4 years old and usually cared for by her grandmother. That afternoon, she took a nap and typically wouldn’t wake up until around 7 p.m. “At the time, while the child was still asleep, her grandmother went downstairs to chat with neighbors. But just moments later, they received the shocking news that the child had fallen.”
Once a tragedy strikes, it becomes an eternal pain in every family's heart—no matter how many times we remind ourselves about child safety, it’s never enough.
Parents, you must pay attention to these questions below!
If you have children at home, be sure to install safety windows—whether protective screens or safety barriers.
If you have children at home, don’t place anything near the window that they could climb on.
If there are children at home, don't leave them alone.
If there are children at home, don't let them out of your sight.
