When installing doors and windows, it’s crucial not only to choose profiles that meet national standards but also to pay close attention to the proper installation techniques. Even the highest-quality materials can compromise the project’s safety and aesthetic appeal if the installation process isn’t carried out meticulously. Warren Doors & Windows reminds you to keep the following key points in mind during installation:
1. Scaffolding must not be placed on door and window frames, heavy objects must not be hung from them, and no items should be passed through the frames or sashes for lifting purposes—this is to prevent deformation or damage to the doors and windows.
2. When lifting doors and windows, line the surfaces with non-metallic, soft materials and ensure you select secure, stable lifting points to prevent scratches on the window or door surfaces.
3. Windows and doors must be installed using the pre-cut opening method. It is strictly prohibited to install them while simultaneously building the surrounding masonry or to install them first and then complete the masonry later. Installation must be carried out before the interior and exterior surfaces of the opening are finished with plastering.
4. When fixing doors and windows into concrete wall openings, use nail guns or plastic expansion bolts; for brick wall openings, only plastic expansion bolts are permitted—never through the mortar joints—and nail gun installation is strictly prohibited. For hollow bricks or aerated concrete block walls, pre-embed wooden blocks, steel plates, or concrete blocks during construction. The maximum spacing between fixings should not exceed 600 mm, with the end-of-frame spacing limited to no more than 180 mm.
5. During installation, it is strictly prohibited to remove the protective film from doors and windows, and any cement, mortar, or other dirt on the surfaces must be cleaned promptly. Additionally, never use hard materials to scrape or pry at the window or door surfaces—this is essential to preserve their quality.
