Smog runs rampant, while low-carbon living is all the rage—21st-century people are embracing the "low-carbon lifestyle." As consumers become increasingly aware of their health and environmental protection, they’re shifting away from lavish, extravagant displays of status in favor of showcasing their refined taste through eco-friendly, low-carbon choices. "Low-carbon" living has already become an unstoppable trend—and it’s set to define the future. Even doors and windows are keeping pace with this evolving mindset, boldly advancing toward energy efficiency and sustainability.
So, how do you choose genuine "low-carbon doors and windows"? Here are a few tips for you:
1. Check the manufacturing quality
The decorative surfaces of doors and windows should show no visible damage, meaning the protective film on the surfaces must remain free from scuffs or scratches. Additionally, there should be no noticeable color variations between adjacent components on the doors and windows. The surfaces must also be free of aluminum chips, burrs, oil stains, or any other marks, and assembly joints should have no excess adhesive protruding beyond the edges.
2. Check the material
If the doors and windows are made of metal, check whether they feature thermal-break insulated aluminum profiles, with the main profile wall thickness exceeding 1.4mm. Additionally, ensure that the color of a single aluminum alloy profile remains consistent—any noticeable color variation should discourage you from making the purchase.
When examining the surface of the aluminum alloy profiles, make sure there are no dents or bulges. Avoid selecting aluminum windows and doors with visible surface defects such as open air bubbles (white spots), slag inclusions (black spots), or other obvious flaws like cracks, burrs, or peeling.
Finally, verify that the oxide film thickness meets the standard of 10 microns. To test this, lightly scratch the profile surface—if the oxide layer can easily be wiped away, it likely doesn’t meet the required quality standards.
3. Check the assembly quality
Check repeatedly whether the switch action feels too heavy; ensure the sealing strips are securely attached; verify that all hardware components are fully assembled; and confirm whether the overlap between the window sash and frame meets the required specifications (standard requires at least 6 mm for casement windows and no less than 8 mm for sliding windows).
4. Look at the glass
Does it feature hollow glass, and is there a coating applied? The safety level of the glass and its various properties—whether they meet the requirements for low-carbon, energy-efficient home living—are also crucial.
