Properly manufactured double-glazed doors and windows first involve sealing two panes of glass together with a sealing strip, then evacuating the space between them to create a vacuum before filling it with an inert gas. This sophisticated construction ensures that genuine double-glazed units deliver exceptional soundproofing and thermal insulation properties. Unfortunately, many cheap, low-quality versions simply bond two ordinary panes of glass without undergoing the advanced process described above—and as a result, they fail to provide the distinctive sound- and heat-insulating benefits characteristic of true double-glazed products.
First, check whether the glass is properly sealed. Many counterfeit insulated glass units use black PVC foam strips to bond the two panes of glass—these do not provide an effective seal. In contrast, genuine insulated glass units are assembled using specialized sealing tapes that ensure airtightness. Real insulated glass windows and doors also feature an aluminum spacer between the two panes, complete with numerous tiny ventilation holes. Inside the spacer, desiccant beads are placed to absorb moisture from the air, preventing fogging caused by heat buildup. On the other hand, fake insulated glass products lack these essential components altogether.
