In contrast, sliding windows rely on very basic hardware mechanisms—typically featuring a central hook or push-lock system for single-point locking—which simply cannot provide the same level of protection against intruders. Operationally, the cleaning process for casement windows is straightforward: simply use the integrated handle to pivot the window sash outward into the room. This makes it both convenient and safe to clean the exterior surface of the window. In contrast, sliding windows have their glass retaining strips positioned entirely on the interior side, making it easy to replace broken glass. However, cleaning the outer surface of sliding windows can be more challenging—especially in areas where the sashes overlap when open.
